Tamil Nadu doesn't use RADT. There may be a difference in number of sample tested given here in the media bulletin & the ICMR portal in view of time-lag between test conducted, results declared that are shared in real time basis by the labs to the state & the districts & the time taken for the data updation in the ICMR portal. One private testing lab at Varsha Laboratory, Kanniyakumari has been recently approved and hence the total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities gets increased to 269. Approximately 2300 passengers travelled from UK between 25th Nov & 23rd Dec forenoon. Of the above, 2146 were traced & tested, of which 24 were tested positive & 2122 were tested negative. Though these 2122 travellers already were tested negative, as a matter of extra precaution 3977 close contacts of them were traced & tested, all were found to be negative. 4668 UK returnees arrived between 08/01/2021 & 30/05/2021. Of the above, 4407 were traced & tested, of which 16 are tested positive, 4385 are tested negative. Results of 6 passengers are awaited. The Total Primary Cases returned from UK as on 30/05/2021 & cases through their contacts till date are 40 & 20 respectively, which are classified by districts namely Chennai (9,6), Thanjavur (3,3), Madurai (5,0), Nilgiris (3,2), Chengalpattu (5,4), Theni (1,2), Nagapattinam (1,3), Coimbatore (1,0), Karur (2,NA), Virudhunagar (1,NA), Tiruchirappalli (8,0) and Sivaganga (1,0). All 40 Primary and 20 contact cases were tested negative on follow-up RT-PCR testing are discharged and completed home quarantine. Out of 493 deaths due to COVID-19, 294 are in Govt Hospitals & 199 are in Private Hospitals.
